When the earth rotates, it has the gravitational pull like o the earth and so does the Sun. When the Sun and the moon pull at the same time they make it bulge out on both sides. The way i remember it is when you squish a rubber band and it comes out on both sides evenly, it does the same thing as the Earth does. Also, wherever the moon is, is where you will have high tide because its where the biggest bulge is. You will also have high tide on the opposite side because of the Sun. The other sides is where there is low tide.
Example: When the Sun, moon and Earth are all in a straight line, high tides would be where the moon and Sun is (on the sides) and the low tides would be on the top and bottom.

It all depends on what kind of 'tide' you are implying, there are a few ways you could use it in a sentence though. Tide as in the ocean tide: "The tide of the ocean rippled gently". Hopefully that's what you meant, also hopefully I helped out!
