The Earth takes 24 hours to rotate 360* on its axis causing the half facing the sun to be in daylight and the half facing away from the sun to be in night and as the planet rotates day and night changes. This effect is different depending on which season you are in and where you are located on the Earth.
The earth rotates one full rotation every day. When the earth is rotated such that a certain place faces the sun, it is day there. But the earth continues to rotate until this place faces away from the sun. It is then night there.
