Making a frisbee out of polyethylene is really cheap, especially compared to the cost of carving one by hand out of balsa wood. Or any other wood you might prefer. And solid gold frisbees are just insanely expensive.
The plastic/polyethylene can be made or put into several forms. One being a liquid that is easily pored into a mold such as a Frisbee mold. It dries very rigid and doesn't break easily so this compound is a great product to use.
i think epoxy surfboards are. nevermind, that's polystyrene...
Nylon is a polymer made from 1,6 hexanediamine. Polyethylene is a polymer made from ethylene. These 3 different types of netting are all man made fibres. Nylon and polypropylene (p/p) give softer, more flexible feel whereas polyethylene (p/e) is quite a wiry type of material. Nylon and p/p are used in applications where a curtain or drape effect is needed to take the speed and impact of a hard ball, e.g. cricket and golf.
Polyethylene is a pure substance. Polyethylene is a semicrystalline homogeneous polymer with a molecular weigh profile based upon the production chemistry. Common forms include HDPE, MDPE, LLDPE, LDPE, UHMWPE, etc.
No, it's an exceedingly unnatural material. For complicated reasons, if you polymerize ethylene, you get polyethylene, but if you polymerize propylene, you get ... polyethylene again. You have to use trickery (usually in the form of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst) to get polypropylene.
Usually polyethylene (casing) and polyurethane foam (insulation).
Polyethylene is a polymer of ethylene and it has carbon and hydrogen atoms.
The first Wham-O Frisbee was first made in 1948.
Examples: polyethylene terephtalate (PET), polyethylene, polypropylene.
Most of plastic bags are made of Polyethylene. It could be made of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) or Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) or a combination of both in addition to Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE).
Hot welding with a polyethylene stick is the only way. No glue has yet been made that will effectively adhere to polyethylene.
Yes, cling film is typically made out of polyethylene, which is a type of plastic. Polyethylene is popular for cling film production because it is flexible, transparent, and has good cling properties.
Cartons are not typically made of polyethylene; they are commonly made of paperboard or cardboard. However, some beverage cartons are made with a polyethylene layer to provide liquid resistance and protect the contents. This helps prevent leaks and maintains the freshness of the product inside.
Walter Morrison invented the Frisbee. It was named for the pie company that made the pie tins that he hurled as a youth
