Digital forensics is the recovery and investigation of computer software found in digital devices. Digital forensics can also be referred to as computer crime. Digital forensics was originally called computer forensics but was changed to encompass all digital devices.
Forensic Science is used to answer questions that deal with criminal or civil actions. Forensics has many subdivisions such as Digital Forensics, Criminalistics, Forensic Psychology, etc. Law & Order, The Mentalist, and the CSI television shows apply a glamorized version of forensics.

Working in Forensics is good because you can solve crimes that people have done.
It is good to work in forensics because you get paid well and if your interesed in solving things and working things out then you would love the job. thanks rebecca smith
Going to school to get a forensics degree is hard work, but it is possible. You will need a strong sense of working with others, as well as a strong stomach to handle some of the cases that you may be working on. When you get closer to graduating, you may be taken on cases with the chief of forensics to work in the field.
You can receive good computer forensics training at a number of places, such as this website: http://www.infosecinstitute.com/courses/computer_forensics_training.html. I would advise looking around for a website that suits your individual needs best.
You should watch truetv if you have cable
Forensics has been my personal obsession for almost a year now, NCIS is what got me interested, I may be answering too late, but I say go for your dreams! I want to be a forensics scientist and I want a degree in computers, I plan on doing both, if you want you could do both, go into DNA forensics,(thats my plan) its biology and forensics all in one, and its one of the most involved subjects in forensics.
Forensics computers deal with legal evidence found in computer systems. Usually involved with dealing with computer crimes, people working in this field are adept at recovering data that has been destroyed intentionally.

It is good to work in forensics because you get a good pay, if your interested in solving and finding out problems, you'll love the job, if you don't like crime you can help stop it, you get to use proper equipment and you get to investigate in real crime scenes.
what are some of the cool stuff computer forensics can do
"4n6" is a common abbreviation for "forensics," typically used in the context of digital forensics or forensic science. It represents the combination of the four letters in "forensics" (4) and the two letters in "n" and "6".
The field of computer forensics has gained a lot of news coverage in recent years, and it’s one of the fastest growing fields for tech jobs. Computer forensics experts are able to find key data on computers and identify when and how that data was accessed. This is valuable for court cases, company arbitration, and other proceedings. When looking for a good computer forensics training program, there are a few crucial things to keep in mind. Computer forensics requires a lot of steady procedure and knowledge, and a good training program should emphasize this. There’s no set certification for a forensics professional, but many computer forensics training programs will involve training on specific programs, specifically Encase. This is standard software for the practice. Encase is almost purposely difficult to use, and the makers of the software offer a special certification for examiners that pass a series of tests. These tests can prove that a certain computer forensics engineer is able to adequately address a case while following the proper procedures, and many companies and lawyers look for computer forensics experts with Encase certification. A good computer forensics training course should certainly address Encase, and may even provide dedicated instruction on the program and its certification. However, it’s important to note that there are many other computer forensics software programs, each with their own certification, and a lack of support for the Encase software does not indicate a major issue with a certain training program. A college degree can also help a potential computer forensics expert. A BA in a computer technology or programming field will look very good on a resume. Schools that offer special coursework for computer forensics students often offer programs for college degrees, and these should be considered as part of overall training and certification to land a great job as a computer forensics expert. Because of the high degree of specialization involved, computer forensics training programs are very successful courses for their graduates. Students often go on to receive jobs in the field almost immediately with the help of a good school and well designed coursework.
