Wind is an atmospheric phenomenon, it isn't a physical thing (unlike clouds) which is why you can't see it, but you can see it's effects and measure the rate at which air is moving from one place to another.

Extra Credit
The Earth is spherical and it's axis is inclined relative to the plane of its orbit. This means that different parts of the planet receive different amounts of solar radiation - so they tend to be different temperatures.

Air above hot areas expands and rises. Air from cooler areas then flows in to replace the heated air.

It's the temperature difference between the poles and the equator combined with the rotation of the Earth(the Coriolis effect)that causes large scale movements within the atmosphere - we call these weather systems Cyclones if they're areas of high pressure and Anti-Cyclones if they're areas of low pressure.

Winds will flow from areas of High Pressure into areas of Low Pressure and, all things being equal, it's the pressure difference that determines the wind speed.
