What are some pros and or benefits of doing a study abroad program in Scotland?

I would say that if you have the opportunity to do a study abroad program, especially in Scotland, you should take advantage of it! Scotland is a beautiful country that is simply bursting with life in its cities and towns. The natural scenery is breathtaking, the history is fascinating, and the people are friendlier than any you'll ever meet. Scotland's pubs, restaurants, and shopping are quite excellent, too. So in addition to all of that, some pros of a study abroad program would be the benefits of learning about a new country firsthand and experiencing a different culture and meeting new people. The only cons that I can think of is that Scotland is likely far away from your home and you would be separated from your family and friends. A few months or a year is not that long in the scheme of things, though.

Scotland has its own government but why can't you get a Scottish passport?

Yes, Scotland has its own government, but it is a devolved government, meaning that Scotland is still joined to the United Kingdom. As this is the case, when it comes to issues like Passports people in Scotland still have to us a British passport. Until Scotland gets Independence, this will continue to be the case. Once Scotland becomes independent, Scottish citizens will then be able to apply for Scottish passports as Scotland will then be sovereign and, like other independent nations, have its own embassies abroad.
