Masculine: Un gps
In many languages, including French and Spanish, continents are considered feminine. However, in English, continents do not have a gender association.
L'Afrique is a French equivalent of 'Africa'. The words in French are pronounced 'lah-freek'. The feminine definite article 'la'* means 'the'. The feminine gender noun 'Afrique' means 'Africa'.*When the following word begins with a vowel, the vowel 'a' in the definite article 'la'temporarily is dropped. Although it may not be immediately able to guild you around France, it is indeed possible to find GPS software with French maps that you can install onto your American GPS. I would check though, if your GPS isn't already equipped with French maps before buying anything, as it is entirely conceivable that the maps necessary to navigate France are already on it.
Gps doesn't have a past tense as it's not a verb.
