Stephanie Meyer, the author of the popular 'Twilight' series began writing 'Midnight Sun' several years ago. It has yet to be released.
The midnight sun is a phenomenon that affects the polar regions. The Sun shines at local midnight around the summer solstice. The lands of the midnight Sun include all those within the Arctic Circle (some parts of Russia, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Greenland) and the Antarctic.
The Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden and Finland) are each called The Land of the Midnight Sun. Technically the territory above the Arctic Circle and below the Antarctic Circle are the lands of the midnight sun but they aren't countries.
Venus is always close to the sun, so when it can be seen, it is only just after sunset or just before sunrise. By midnight the Venus will be below the horizon, so it would not be possible to see it. If you live closer to the poles, say Alaska for example, then you might be able to see the Sun at midnight near the summer solstice. If Venus is close to the sun and the Sun has just dropped below the horizon, then maybe you can Venus at midnight. For example, in mid-May of 2031 if you are in Fairbanks, Alaska, Venus doesn't set! At midnight it is 16 degrees above the horizon in Gemini. Use a planetarium program to verify or try this. Go to www.heavens-above.com. Set or change your current location to Fairbanks, Alaska. Then find the link to "Whole Sky Chart". Set the time to May 16, 2031 at 23:58 p.m.
In countries near the poles, such as Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Russia, there are regions where the sun does not set for up to six months during summer (midnight sun) and does not rise for up to six months during winter (polar night). This phenomenon is called the midnight sun and polar night.
Because Scandinavia is so far north that in summer the days are very long and the nights are very short. Whilst it may not be possible to actually see the sun at midnight it will still be quite light in the very late evening. Conversely, in winter, the nights are very long and the days very short. It is then the "Land of the Midday Gloom"
There is no "official" cover for Midnight Sun.
Midnight Sun will be going back through the whole saga but in Edwards point of view

Stephanie said she has an idea of who put Midnight Sun on the internet, but has not said who it was.
there are rumors that someone finished the book and she didn't want that and there are also rumors that the 5th book is named the host.
Yes, there is going to be a book called Midnight Sun. Midnight Sun is a book that will share Edward's perspective, however, there are rumors that Stephenie Meyer, author of the series is not doing it any more, as the book got leaked onto the internet and Stephenie believes that she should wait a while.
Midnight Sun is Twilight from Edward's point of view. The actual Twilight Saga is Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. Midnight Sun has not yet been released, and it may never be. So no, Waning Moon is not a book, so it's not the next book after Midnight Sun. Waning Moon is NOT a book it is a fan fic http://www.twilighted.net/viewstory.php?sid=7289
