It is the manufacturing hub of China, where most of the made in china products come from. It is a business hub with many foreign companies. Guangzhou is the third largest city in China. It is cantonese, and basically the only place that Hong Kong will communicate with directly on the mainland. It is one of the top ten ports of thhe world, and the center of trade in the Pearl River Delta. It is also the most liberal place in China, mostly because the distance from the central government in Beijing, snd its influence from Hong Kong. Guangzhou is the center of Lingnan culture, and the historical site of trade with the West and the Opium Wars. Sun yat-sun's campaign for the Republic of China started in Guangzhou, and was the headquarters for the Nationalist party during combat with the Communist. When the PRC was declared, Guangzhou was still free from the communinst rule, but eventually fell to the troops.
