Movement is one of the five themes of geography, which also includes location, place, human0environment interaction, and region. The study of movement tracks the travel of people, ideas and materials from one location to another. It also helps geographers to understand the relationship of these factors to places.
If you're talking about the five themes of geography, region refers to how any one area, be it a town or a continent, has its own unique characteristics in comparison to other areas of the same sides. For example, the Mid-Atlantic States share a common history and culture that differs greatly from the Southwest, Southeast, Midwest and Pacific Regions.
The five themes of Geography include location, place, region ,movement and interaction between humans and the environment. Location may be either absolute or relative. Place defines everything in an area. Region, is an area defined by certain similar characteristics. Movement, effects the way entities move from one location to another and interaction examines how humans have adapted to this environment.
