Swiss alps
The longest is the chain of the Rockies and Andes that goes almost from pole to pole. The highest is the Himalayas that has Everest and K2. The tallest single mountain is Hawaii, but most of it is under water.
Mountain Province was created on September 21, 1966, when the former Mountain Province was split into four provinces under Presidential Decree No. 469.

The mountains on the west coast of North America, such as the Cascade Range and Sierra Nevada, were mainly formed by the movement of tectonic plates. The collision of the Pacific Plate with the North American Plate caused compression and uplift, leading to the formation of the mountain ranges we see today. Additionally, volcanic activity played a significant role in shaping these mountain ranges over millions of years.
Oh, I think this question is very interesting.
Switzerland and Italy.
The Gotthard Base Rail Tunnel, completed on October 15, 2010, stretches 35.4 miles (about 57 kilometers) under the Swiss Alpine mountains. Its completion pushed the Seikan Tunnel in Japan, at 33.5 miles (about 54 kilometers), to second place. The Gotthard Base Rail Tunnel connects northern Europe to Italy and will shorten the travel time by over an hour when it opens for cargo and passenger trains in 2017. It was a ten billion dollar project that was first conceived about 60 years ago. It took 23 years of digging and the loss of 8 lives for the tunnel to be completed.
It is located beneath the Tsugaru Strait in Japan, and is 53.85 KM (33.46 MI) long. 23.3 KM (14.5 MI) is located under the seabed. It opened on March 13, 1988. It not only is the longest tunnel, it also is the deepest train tunnel in the wold. However, watch for the completion of the Gotthard Base Tunnel in Europe to take over the record sometime around 2018.
Assuming you mean the tunnel under the Lonely Mountain that leads to Smaug, then Balin.
Alas, no. There are several longer. The longest of all, the Paijanne water tunnel in Finland, is a water supply tunnel so probably doesn't count. The Seikan tunnel in Japan carries a narrow-gauge railway and is 33.5 miles long. The Channel tunnel is certainly the longest full-size railway tunnel at 31.3 miles. However, those crafty Swiss are currently at work under the Alps, and the Gotthard Base tunnel (also a standard gauge railway) will be 35.5 miles long, a clear winner.
The Pacific Rise is the mountain range under the Pacific Ocean. It parallels the coast of North and South America.
It is the thickest under mountains ranges.
The crust is generally thicker under a mountain range compared to under the sea. This is because mountain ranges are formed by the collision of tectonic plates, which can result in the crust being pushed up and folded, leading to its thickening. In contrast, the crust under the ocean is thinner due to the process of seafloor spreading where new crust is constantly being created at mid-ocean ridges.
The Tunnel under the World was created in 1954.
