Simply put, if you are a child and you nave "outgrown" your clothes, you have grown too big for them.

The term can be applied more generally to imply someone has "moved on" from where they were.

Answer 2:

The word outgrown can have at least two meanings.

The original meaning was the literal meaning. As a child gets older he outgrows his clothes and they must be replaced. It has also come to mean to mature (grow older) and abandon earlier, usually simpler hobbies, interests and friends.
