You can't use your food ebt accounts to purchase hot prepared food, or fast food. Unless you are homeless. I that case, at certain fast food restaurants, which have made arrangements with the Food and Nutrition Services, that restaurant can accept ebt food cards for purchasing discounted food.
This is a newly added regulation to help homeless people get fed. I haven't been able to find any information on just how the restaurant knows that the person presenting the ebt card is homeless, and I'm sure that the FNS isn't putting out that information on purpose.
Here is the Regulation:
PART 271-GENERAL INFORMATION AND DEFINITIONS
§271.2 Definitions.
Eligible foods means:
(9) In the case of homeless food stamp households, meals prepared by a restaurant which contracts with an
appropriate State agency to serve meals to homeless persons at concessional (low or reduced) prices.

However, if you have Cash Benefits loaded onto your ebt card (generally, I get my cash benefits from receiving Low Income Energy Assistance--although, I think some get their monthly cash added to their ebt cards, but I'm not too sure about that one), you can use your ebt as a debit card and withdraw the cash benefit out at a restaurant--but no using food benefits.
EBT cards can not be used at fast food restaurants in Ohio. EBT cards can only be used on food in grocery stores.

In Louisville, Kentucky, some fast food restaurants do accept EBT cards, but this is typically limited to establishments that participate in the Restaurant Meals Program (RMP). This program is designed for eligible low-income individuals, such as the elderly or disabled. It's essential to check with individual restaurants to confirm their participation, as not all fast food locations accept EBT.

In Cartersville, GA, some restaurants that may accept EBT cards include fast food establishments like McDonald's and certain convenience stores that have a restaurant component. However, it’s essential to check with each location directly, as EBT acceptance can vary. Additionally, not all restaurants in Georgia accept EBT for hot meals, so it's advisable to confirm their current policy before visiting.
As of my last update, specific diners and restaurants in Dearborn that accept EBT cards can vary, as not all establishments participate in the program. Typically, EBT cards are accepted at grocery stores and some designated fast-food locations that participate in the Restaurant Meals Program. It's best to check directly with the restaurants or consult the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services website for the most current information on participating locations.

In North Carolina, some fast food restaurants that accept EBT cards include certain locations of Subway, McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Wendy's, but this is limited to restaurants that participate in the Restaurant Meals Program. However, not all locations may accept EBT, so it's essential to check with the specific restaurant beforehand. Additionally, eligibility for using EBT at these locations typically requires meeting certain criteria, such as being homeless or disabled. Always verify with local guidelines and the specific restaurant to ensure acceptance.

IHop does not accept EBT cards as a form of payment. EBT is primarily used for purchasing food items at grocery stores and certain eligible food establishments, but most sit-down restaurants, including IHOP, do not participate in the program. It's always best to check directly with the restaurant or local regulations for any updates or exceptions.
