Does the UK accept dual citizenship?

The simple answer is no unless you're under 18. My son was born in the UK and currently holds Dual Citizenship. At 18 he has to choose to stay a US citizen and give up his UK citizenship; or give up his US citizenship and pay back-taxes for 18 years.

If we chose to do that we could send him back to the UK prior to his 18th birthday and pay the taxes. Doing so would give him free NHS and College and University (as the British call it) if his grades were good. Unfortunately for me the taxes would roughly equate to college here...although he'd have the NHS which is far superior to our "health plans".

Sure. Why not? But you would have to set up residency in each country part of the year and then I would guess that, according to the laws of the UK, you would have to learn about that country and then apply for citizenship. Another way would be if one parent was a English Citizen and the other a Citizen of the USA - dual citizenship.

If you are asking if it is possible to be a citizen of both the US and the UK: it is as far as the US is concerned. The US basically doesn't care about what else you might be; if you're a US citizen, you're a US citizen. Your rights and obligations as a US citizen don't change because you might be able to claim citizenship in some other country. So, among other things, you must pay US income tax, even if you live in some other country. I believe, though I'm not positive, that the UK takes much the same position (except their income tax situation is a little more complicated, and it's possible that you might not have to pay UK income tax if at no point during the year were you actually in the UK).

If you're asking if being a citizen of one automatically makes you a citizen of the other, then no, that is not true.

To become an American citizen, you must renounce your previous citizenship. So, judging by that, I'd say no.
