In The UK we have Post Codes. Typically they are in the following format:- KL7 2DS or KL7 21DS. Obviously the numbers and the letters change according to locality. The letters in the second group indicate the broad locality e.g. GL for Gloucester and BS for Bristol. The first group is quite specific, sometimes indicating a single large building, but typically indicating a group of 6 or 8 houses in the suburbs.
