Corfe Castle, located in Dorset, England, was primarily a royal fortress and not a typical residential building. During its peak in the medieval period, it housed a small number of residents, including the lord and his family, along with soldiers and servants, totaling around a few dozen people. The population would have varied based on the castle's usage and the presence of garrison troops. Today, the castle is a ruin, attracting visitors rather than serving as a residence.
The exact number of people who died at Corfe Castle is not well-documented, as it has a long and tumultuous history dating back to the 11th century, including sieges during the English Civil War. Additionally, many deaths would have gone unrecorded. However, notable events include the death of the last Lord of Corfe, who was executed in 1646 during the Civil War. Overall, while specific numbers are unclear, the castle has been the site of numerous conflicts and tragedies over the centuries.

It was destroyed with rocket launchers?? Certainly an idea but the Castle fell to Parliamentarian Forces during the English Civil war after a member of the Castle staff let the enemy in through a side door. The Castle was then destroyed by gunpowder, to make it unusable. The process is known as 'Slighting'. After the destruction much of the stone work was carried away and many of the houses in Corfe Castle village have stonework from the castle in their construction.
At Goodrich Castle, at least 100 to 150 people would have lived there, just to take care of the Lord's family. Estimates suggest that around 200 people lived in the castle at any given time.
