How much environmental protection is too much?

Hmmm, I'm not sure that it is ever too much! I mean people can go to extremes, and I can give you an example. EnvironMENTALists want to put restrictions on cutting up and removing dead and down trees in the national forests of Arizona. However, because of this restriction, two fires merged, burned millions of acres of land killing God knows how many animals and burning just under a thousand homes. It could have been controlled and this extreme avoided had our forest floors been cleaned out instead of providing so much fuel to the fire. I agree with the environMENTALists that our forests needed to be protected, but I think that a better course of action would have been to maintain the forest, cleaning up the underbrush and allowing new forest to grow instead of destroying it all. So, can there be too much, I think no, but with the condition that some of it needs to be changed in search of alternatives that could end with a better result.
