Is the post office open on December 26th 2011?

Unfortunately, No. Monday, December 26th is a Postal Holiday. That being said, it is possible that some post offices at airports will be open (though I doubt it). The reason I mention it is because the one in the cargo carrier area at the Tulsa airport used to be open 24/7 except on holidays. However it's been a number of years since they had those hours at that post office. Also worth mentioning, my local carrier has, in past years, delivered parcels on Christmas Day, when Christmas fell on a weekday. So some carriers might (and I stress "might") deliver parcels on Monday, the 26th. However, what with all of the recent postal cutbacks, I find it unlikely that any such deliveries will occur on the 26th (since again, it's a postal holiday this year).

Officially from US Postal Service:

"Most San Francisco Postal District Post Offices will be open Christmas Eve, Saturday, Dec. 24 and New year's Eve, Dec. 31, 2011, but some will either be closed or shorten retail lobby hours. Mail delivery on Dec. 24 and (New Year's Eve) Dec. 31 is unaffected by the change.

"Revised hours are posted at each Post Office and commercial customers are asked to check with their Bulk Mail Acceptance Unit for Dec. 24 hours of operation.

"Customers may call 1-800-ASK-USPS or visit usps.com for information about specific Post Offices. In addition, mail should be deposited into blue collection mailboxes by noon for early pick-up on December 24.

"All Post Offices will be closed Sunday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Dec. 26, and Sunday, Jan. 1 and Monday, Jan. 2. Express Mail only will be delivered on Christmas Day and New Year's Day in most major metropolitan areas. All Post Offices will be open regular hours on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 and Jan. 3, 2012, and regular mail delivery will resume."

The post office is CLOSED on 12/26/2011. They are closed today for observance of Christmas. This link is where I got my answer from and it includes all the dates the post office will be closed for 2011 and 2012.

Certainly, it will be open. The hours are probably normal, but you would have to check the specific post office to see if they are closing early.
