A plan for a National PostCode system for Ireland was to be implemented by Jan 2008. This plan has not happened and there is no published alternative.Instead a Geo Postcoding system referred to as PON Codes was introduced for testing in June 2008. An announcement on wider availability is expected over the next few weeks. PON Codes can be used by anyone by going to http://www.irishpostcodes.ie
