All gasoline comes from the same terminal(s) that are closest to your area. Marathon, Exxon, BP, Motiva, etc. Whichever has the best price on that day. The quality is all the same depending on a few variables. The tanker driver plays a role in this. If they take pride and are properly trained, the gas or diesel that they put in the ground is exactly the same as it would be if you was allowed to get it directly from the source. If the driver does not drain the compartments as much as possible, condensation and dirt builds up. That is not a big deal since most underground tanks are 10 to 20 thousand gallons. Its like spitting in a pond. Most gasoline quality issues arise from stores not maintaining the filters, pumps, or letting the tanks go bone dry. Gasoline is a very light liquid. Water, dirt, and other impurities settle at the very bottom since they are heavier. Back to the question of supply. Oil prices vary from terminal to terminal on a daily basis. Any station tries to get the best price possible in order to boast lower prices at the pump. Most are going to make "x" amount no matter what. If I could compare it to anything, I would say it is like bottled water. If you want Evian, it will cost more than Aquafina, but they both do the exact same thing. It is a crazy industry. All things considered, all of the different terminals and tanker drivers across the U.S do an amazing job in making sure that your local gas hole does not go dry. If you run into a problem with the performance of your fuel, 99% of that can be attributed to bad filters at the pump. Read more: Who_supplies_the_gasoline_for_sam's_club

It depends on the area you live in. Usually its from a variety of vendors. I know in our area we get it from usher transport?? at least that's what the truck says. Also I have come across vendors such as Exxon, and Murpay Oil I noticed Tom Thumb outlet in Florida had been downplaying the CITGO connection. Curious, I researched and found Kroger is Tom Thumb's parent. I emailed Kroger asking if their Kroger gasoline was CITGO. The response was that the source is proprietary. Well. 2 + 2 equals 4 in my book.

Kroger (and all other gas stations, no matter what brand) obtain their gas from trucks that fill up at fuel racks near refineries around the USA. Typical racks are Exxon or CITGO. Your local Kroger obtains their gas from whichever truck happens to be in your town when the station needs a refill (probably came from a rack in your state or a neighboring state). Essentially, all gasoline is fossil fuel. When you buy gas from Kroger you are only paying for their advertising. If you are very curious (and have spare time) watch the trucks that refill the gas pumps in your town. You will notice that truck just drives from one gas station to another, refilling their pumps no matter what brand =) Gas is gas.

Kroger is a multi-faceted chain of stores that includes convenience/grocery items as well as a pharmacy. More information about Kroger can be found at the website listed in the Related Links. There is a related question out there concerning the gasoline supply at the Kroger 'owned' convenience stores. CITGO, an American-owned subsidiary of Venezuelan Petroleum (PDVSA), supplies 50-65% of refined gasoline to the Kroger stores. The vendors vary from region to region. The Kroger company is actually very frugal and responsible in their agreements/contracts, thus their continued success.
