Based on the cost of a conventional loaf of wheat bread today, and running it through the CPI inflation calculator, the last time you could buy a loaf of bread for 5¢ in the USA was about 1900.

The price of bread varies depending on the type of purchased and the brand. Five years ago you could purchase a loaf of bread for about a dollar.
Yes you can, although I think they used Shellac years ago when this was a big thing to do.
In the UK it averages £1.19, compared to just 65p 5 years ago.

My answer is that a loaf of high quality bread, let's say Winnipeg rye bread in Winnipeg, was about 69cents. I am just guessing because when I lived in Wpg in the early 1970s, a loaf of Wpg rye would cost about 99cents, and I thought that was awfully high. Here in central California now in 2012, a loaf of quality Jewish rye costs $4.89. The latest bump upward in price just happened this year, in fact, just a few weeks ago. The bump was about one dollar upward, more or less. Keynesian economics is a sad joke and a total failure worldwide. One would think the Federal Reserve Bank in the U.S, the Bank of Canada, and all of the other central banks would respect the message. Whilst Burbank expands the USA. money supply and Pres. Obama waves to his crowds, it now costs yet another dollar for a loaf of rye bread. i have looked it up and it said that a fresh loaf of baked bread was .21 per loaf
(49+3)/4=13 The price of a brick was 13 cents 20 years ago.
It depends on the year and model and make of the breadmaker. I had a breadmaker that took 4 hrs to make a white loaf of bread. (that was longtime ago, when they first made breadmakers). Times have changed, they have gotten faster I'm sure. But, it also depends on the type of bread you are making too. Probably, an hour or two to answer your question. Have fun!!!! Ours has two settings. It has a quick loaf that bakes for one hour and has the consistancy of a brick or you can set it for three hours where you get a really nice bread. Don't be in a hurry. Go for the longer time.
Fifty years ago, bread was typically packaged in wax paper or plastic bags. It was common for bread to be sold unwrapped as well, especially from local bakeries. Plastic bread bags with twist ties or paper wrappers were also widely used.
