Why is the store target called target?

Target is a store focused on providing a great experience to it's "guests" while providing low prices and staying corporately responsible. Target tends to be more clean and higher class than most other discount retailers. Target was named America's Most Charitable Company by Forbes in 2007 and is often praised for it's giving nature. Target manages to keep relatively low prices, while still offering their guests designer merchandise.

In 1962, over 200 possible names were debated. The reasoning behind the "Target" choice was, "As a marksman's goal is to hit the center bulls-eye, the new store would do much the same in terms of retail goods, services, commitment to the community, price, value and overall experience."

Its a good eye catching name, that's easy to remember, and different from all the rest. Also there symbol is a target, wich really resembls there store greatly.
