When history is generalized it is a statement that such and such a thing happened because of one particular event. To over simplify something is to take away it's meaning from the historical context. History is often reflected by the biases of the researchers. If you look an old map of the world you will notice that Europe and North America are larger than Africa or South America. This is a biased representation of the world. They are actually larger.
