How does natural selection lead to evolution

a species can gradually change into new species

What must be true for natural selection to happen

There must be genetic variation in the population

The system must not be in hardy-weinberg equilibrium.

resources must be limited in the ecosystem

What idea did Malthus introduce

Mathus felt that population is limited by food supply so we need to limit population growth or starve.

How do peppered moths after the Industrial Revolution show the process of natural selection

The peppered moth had white bodies and wings, peppered with black. This coloration blended well into the original British countryside, hiding them from their predator the birds. Factories of the early industrial revolution covered everything with soot. Now the white stood out against the black surroundings making them easy targets for birds. Over time the white moths were wiped out. But, a few of them were darker in color, these survived and multiplied such that the white peppered moth was replaced buy the dark ones.

Black moths were selected for when the trees turned black.

the moths with the high fitness were selected for

The black moths were more fit for survival, so their phenotype frequency increased.

Why is night vision an adaptation for owls in a desert environment

All owls have night vision. Since the desert can get so hot, most animals, including owls, come out at evening or night to avoid the heat of day. Since they're active at night, it's good to have nocturnal vision.

Some desert owls are elf owls, pygmy owls, burrowing owls, great horned owls.

It allows them to hunt when it is cooler.

What question did Charles Darwin attempt to answer

Why do organisms in different places have different traits (apex)

What best summarizes the peppered moths in England after the Industrial Revolution

allele frequency change Apex :)

What is a reproductive strategy

The method an organism uses to produce offspring

the way that a species creates offspring

What rainforest does the desert have

There is no desert with a rainforest.

How are finches in the Galapaagos Islands a good example of adaptation

Finches developed many different adaptations. For example, one type of finch had a short strong beak meant for cracking seeds, while another had a long narrow beak for gathering food from the inside of flowers, and cacti, therefore making each species more adapted to its specific environment and more able to gather food then they would on another island with a different main food source.

Which is true about adaptions

Organisms are born with them
