What term describes the transfer of energy between objects that have different average kinetic energies

The transfer of energy between two objects at different average thermal kinetic energies (temperatures) is referred to as heat transfer. It is always called heat transfer, regardless of what kind of energy is being transferred.

What do fixed pulleys always do

change the direction of force

What best describes thermal energy

energy of molecular motion

What infroemation is needed to calculate the amount of energy needed to heat a volume of water to some temperature

You need to know the amount of water (mass), how many degrees you want to heat it up, and the specific heat of water. Then - if everything is in compatible units - you must simply multiply the three together.
