It can be reduced by regular position change and eating a healthy diet.
A pressure sore - is an area of skin that has become inflamed because someone has remained in the same position for long periods of time. Although we sleep for eight hours - we move around... this prevents pressure sores. However - a patient that is immobilised in a hospital bed - cannot move naturally, and thus is prone to developing pressure sores. Nursing staff can move the patient carefully to minimise the risk.
The beginning sign of a pressure sore is usually a red, pink, or discolored area on the skin that does not fade when pressure is relieved. This area may feel warm, firm, or spongy to the touch and may be painful or itchy. It is important to address these signs early to prevent the sore from developing further.
The Branden scale is a medicalol or method developed in the late 1987 by Barbara Braden and Nancy Bergstram. It is used to predict pressure, ulcer or sore risk in a patient. It is used to implement pressure ulcer prevention.
It's an ulcer, an open sore that's caused by constant pressure being applied to the same spot(s) on the body long enough for the skin and tissue on that spot to get damaged by the reduced blood flow.
In my work area, we use the Braden Scale for Predicting Pressure Sore Risk to assess pressure ulcer risk in patients. This tool takes into account sensory perception, moisture, activity, mobility, nutrition, and friction/shear to identify at-risk patients and implement appropriate prevention strategies. Regular assessments using this tool help in reducing the incidence of pressure ulcers among patients.
The initial symptom is a tingling or mildly painful itching sensation in the area where the sore will appear.

If you are swimming in clean, chlorinated water this would be safe. If the water is not very clean, then there is a risk of exposing your sore to an infection. Personally, I would wait for the sore to heal.
