AED pads for an adult should be placed where?

Remember the saying "white upper right, red to the ribs". This refers to pads as placed on the patient. If the colors are the same on the pads and leads, then follow the icons on the pads themselves for placement upper right and on the ribs. All AEDs I have seen in the last few years all have icons on the pads for placement location on the patient.

For AED pad placement, remember the saying "white upper right, red to the ribs". That means on the patient, the white lead goes on the upper right of the chest; the red lead goes on the left lower side of the patient, on the ribs.

Today, most if not all new AEDs have an icon on the pad which shows the placement upper right or lower left.

Place one pad on the upper right of the patient, the other on the lower left side, on the ribs.
