Xenophobia in Detail:

Fear is a feeling every living thing on earth has towards something or the other. But, Xenophobia is different in the way that, it is an unreasonable fear. It is something that doesnt warrant itself and is not at all required.

For ex: If you are thrown into a lions den, the fear you will have in your mind and heart is reasonable because the lion can easily devour you. But, if you are thrown into a cage with adorable puppies you needn't be afraid because, they are not going to hurt you. All they would do is, lick you, cuddle with you and play with you. If you display some kind of fear when with adorable puppies, it would be considered a form of Xenophobia.

Xenophobia in Real Life:

Humans, being the most advanced living creatures on earth too are scared and afraid of things. But, in certain cases, the fear is unwarranted and the anger or reactions of those people is uncalled for. for example, just after the 9/11 twin tower blasts in the United States, almost every Muslim who lived in America were considered terrorists. There were racist attacks, innocent civilians were detained by law enforcement authorities and thousands around the country were put through unwanted pain and trauma. Nobody denies the fact that those violent acts of terrorism were done by certain Muslims who were Jehadi's and were against the West, but, punishing a whole community as a result of the action of some individuals is uncalled for and would be termed as Xenophobia.

Usually immigrants and minority communities are the easiest targets for bullies and xenophobes.

Results of Xenophobia:

Xenophobia results in unwanted trouble and misery for a selected set of people. Though they might be innocent, they would be targeted just because they are immigrants or belong to a certain race or community. Certain egomaniacal xenophobes would even resort to physically abusing or even killing the people who they are afraid of, or whom they do not like. Such a targeted killing of a community of group of people is termed as "Genocide"

Classic Historic Example of Xenophobia:

Adolf Hitler, the German Dicatator and his German Army is known for the mass Genocide of Jews in Europe. They were captured, detained in Ghetto's or Extermination Camps in inhumane conditions and murdered in thousands. The only fault of theirs was the fact that they were Jews and Hitler did not like them. This kind of mass murder was uncalled for, but eventually happened and is a classic example of Xenophobia.

Is Xenophobia/Genocide Justified?

If you ask me, it would be a big NO. No human irrespective of his fear or hatred of another, has no right to kill someone. Millions of lives have been lost due to the unwanted fear or hatred of people in influential/powerful positions and as civilized people, we must strongly resist such actions.

I just hope that, with all the education and technology, people continue to remain at peace with one another and not kill one another.
