Ringworm and dhobie itch are not exactly the same, though they are both fungal infections. Ringworm, or tinea, can affect various parts of the body, presenting as circular, red, itchy patches. Dhobie itch, a specific type of ringworm, typically refers to a fungal infection in the groin area, often caused by the same fungi. Both conditions are treatable with antifungal medications.

Ringworm.
Symptoms of ringworm include red, raised, scaly patches on the skins that itch severely and can also blister and ooze. It can be incredibly uncomfortable but can be treated by over-the-counter creams that contain miconazole or clotrimazole.
Ringworm is the common name for infection caused by a fungus. Worms have nothing to do with it. The fungus that causes it grows on your hair and skin, mostly on the top layers. It is called ringworm because it is round with a raised ring and clear center. The life cycle of the fungus can be complicated. I have included a link.

Ring"worm" is actually a fungal infection, so creams containing clotrimazole or miconazole should be good; there are several over-the-counter antifungal creams for treatment of ringworm/athlete's foot/jock itch (which are all caused by essentially the same group of organisms). If those don't work, see a physician.
