Yes, there are specialized glasses designed to help reduce the discomfort caused by fluorescent lighting. These glasses typically feature lenses that filter out specific wavelengths of light, particularly the harsh blue and green tones emitted by fluorescent bulbs. They can help alleviate eye strain and headaches for individuals sensitive to these types of lighting. Additionally, some options may include anti-reflective coatings to further enhance visual comfort.

Are fluorescent lights harmful to your health?

Some people can actually see a strobing effect when they use fluorescent lights and they drive them nuts. Standard fluorescents have a very yellow-green glaring distortion in their color spectrum. Doing detailed work under them can be really hard on the eyes. I only use 5500-6500K full spectrum fluorescents because they are the most natural light you can get, even better than incandescent (which is high in yellows and reds). Full spectrum fluorescents help me match colors and is easier on my eyes than other types of light when I use the computer. When you stare at the screen and look away it's better for your eyes if the ambient light is as natural as possible. Full spectrum fluorescents are used in the treatment of S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder, or seasonal depression) so they can be good for you.
