RA is an auto imune disease that leads to the distruction of the soft tiseu in joints eventualy leading to the joints becoming imobilised and deformed.

Osteoporosis is the result of bones losing minerals like calcium, faster than they can be replaced. This leads to a loss of bone thickness (bone mass or density).The result of this is that bones become thinner and less dense. This in turn leads to situations wher even a minor bump or accident can cause serious fractures. These are known as fragility or minimal trauma fractures.

• Rheumatoid arthritis on the other hand is an autoimmune disease this is the result of the body's own immune system turning on itself and destroying healthy joint and other tissue. to avoid or at least reduce the damage caused by this disease anti inflammatory drugs are used and disease modifying drugs that switch of certain parts of the immune system that are causing the damaging inflammation. However there are side effects that require that their use be strictly monitored.
• Gouty arthritis is another form of the disease only this is the result of excess uric acid in the blood which in turn leads to the formation of tiny sharp crystals that collect ind synovial joints and other places in the body. it is reputed to be the most painful form of Arthritis and treatment consists of anti inflammatory drugs and diet control.
