During the 1970s and 1980, around 80% of male infants were circumcised in the United States. A study conducted in the United States from 2005-2007 found that circumcision rates had fallen to below 40% in most of the United States. In the western United States, fewer than 25% of infant males were circumcised in 2005-2007.

For example if it is done during infancy the extreme pain has the effect of rewiring the brain, Trauma can have a bad effect on the mental process of a child that age. This is just the beginning of the damage, once the wounding has healed, Hopefully without complications, and there are often complications, the glans find themselves without any protection and immediately dry out and start to lose sensitivity as a result of its surface thickening in a bid to protect itself, this eventually can lead to sexual dysfunction. The glans become so insensitive that a man has to keep having sex for an inordinately long time too reach orgasm, This problem is made worse as a result of the fore kin being a erogenous zone in its own right.
