I Had OCD as a teenager in both knees. I now have arthritis in both knees. The arthritis is severe in the knee where I lost the most bone to OCD. I am in my mid fifties and the arthritis affects my knee strength and mobility.
While both are autoimmune diseases and both are more prevalent in women. the cause for both of these conditions is not known.

Crohn's can affect the joints. See the related link below for more information. The inflammation that appears with both Crohn's and UC often shows up in other area's of the body like joints. The symptoms are pain, swelling and joint stiffness that flare up and then go away, then flare up again. The more severe the IBD the more severe the arthritis. When the joints are involved in combination with IBD the diagnosis is call IBD Arthritis. Treatment often amounts to moist heat and cold packs, bed rest when severe, non steroidal anti- inflammatory medications like Ibuprofen.
Many live with arthritis both minor and severe. A large portion of these people are seniors and the elderly. There are options to make living with arthritis safer, especially for those seniors and elderly who have severe arthritis and do not want to surrender their independence. Make sure high traffic areas are clear of clutter that could be a tripping hazard, and make sure loose throw rugs are removed or firmly secured to the floor. Looking into a medical alert system could also be a good option for someone living with arthritis in the event of a fall or other emergency.
Bilateral means that the arthritis is in both shoulders.
Crohn's Disease is an inflammatory bowel disease, and arthritis is also an inflammatory condition. The link of both of them having to do with swelling is why they have a connection. However, Crohn's Disease does not necessarily cause arthitis, it's only known to be associated with it. Hope this helps! :)

Menopausal arthritis is an inflammatory disease that is found in women around the time of menopause. it is not considered a destructive form of arthritis and causes moderate to severe swelling usually in the hands and around the wrists. Synovitis of the knee joint is typically considered more dangerous than arthritis of the knee joint. Synovitis is an inflammation of the synovial membrane lining the joint, leading to pain, swelling, and potential damage to the joint structures if left untreated. Arthritis, on the other hand, is a broader term encompassing various joint conditions, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, which can also cause pain and inflammation but may progress more slowly and be managed with treatments like medication and physical therapy. In severe cases, both synovitis and arthritis can lead to joint degeneration and disability.
This will depend upon the type of arthritis the cat has. In general, degenerative arthritis (the kind your cat gets because he/she is older) should not cause an elevated white blood cell count. However, there is infectious arthritis which would cause an elevated white blood cell count - this would be a good reason for a veterinarian to carefully collect some joint fluid for analysis, because infection in the joints is both painful and difficult to treat.
