OF COURSE IT CAN, always have protected sex NO MATTER WHAT! Herpes is a very contagious STD and even if you do not have herpes you should still use contraceptives. As an OB/GYN with 3 PHD's and 7 masters degrees in sexually transmitted diseases, i have encountered many patients with that question. Take my advice and use the Trojan brand condoms EVERY TIME. Be safe! =D

If you have hurpes can you still get pregnant?

Absolutely YES! Genital herpes may be passed from one person to another through close physical contact. This means sex and practically anything else that can lead to sex. This includes kissing, oral sex, anal sex, etcetera. Genital herpes does not keep you from getting pregnant. In fact, if you or your partner have genital herpes you should see a doctor immediately. The doctor can show you how to use safer birth control so you don't pass the herpes virus to each other (or anyone else) and do his/her best to make sure you don't get pregnant. Babies born to mothers with Herpes generally contract herpes when they are born from the vagina. Many times, women with genital herpes are forced to have a caesarean delivery (when they cut her tummy open and get the baby out) just to protect the baby from getting Herpes. This is VERY SERIOUS! See a doctor and learn what to do to protect yourself and your partner and NOT get pregnant until you learn more.

Can a person get ocular herpes if a person who has herpes spits in his eye?

Not likely to happen, herpes isn't passed by just saliva. If this person kissed you on or around your eyes while they had a cold sore then you have a higher chance of gettig ocular herpes.Herpes isn't passed through just saliva, so NO you wouldn't get ocular herpes from that. Some one would have to give you a kiss around your eyes while they had a cold sore in order for you to have any chance of that happening.

What is it when you get a blister just inside your vagina and there is occasional itchiness around the area but you and your sexual partner were both virgins before any sexual activity?

You have herpes. Either a) one of you were not virgins b) one of you have mouth herpes which can be, rarely, transmitted orally. Don't freak out, go to the doctor, take Valtrax or something like it and you will be ok, its not the end of the world or you sex life. Just use condoms with other partners. Unfortunately, It sound like herpes. You can be a virgin and have herpes. It could have been passed to you by your mother during childbirth. Or you can have the herpes that are in your mouth affect you down there, if they are spread to your nether regions through other sexual activity. Before you get too upset sometimes the acidic reaction between partners can cause this to happen. It's best to go see the doctor and let them diagnose this. It may not be Herpes at all. You need to talk to your partner, and if it's just you with the symptoms you might want to consider Vulvitis. Vulvitis is an inflamation of the vulva often confused with herpes. However you need to see a doctor and get a proper diagnosis.

How is hsv 2 transmitted?

Herpes simplex is spread through skin contact for example when you rub your genitals together during intercourse with some one that has herpes. It's not passed through just body fluids like blood sperm or saliva.Genital herpes is rarely passed out side of having intercourse or oral sex. It's not passed genetically from parent to child and there is very low risk of getting it from an object because it doesn't last for long periods of time when it's out side of the body. It's passed when the skin of your genitals rubs together with your partners genitals during intercourse. But your partner would have to have genital herpes to begin with, you're not going to get it if they don't have it. It's called skin to skin contact, that's how it's passed on. Also there doesn't always have to be a break out to pass it but it's more likely to be passed (for example) if you have intercourse around the time your parnter has a break out.
