No. Research is increasingly proving Narcissism to be genetic.
Child abuse can make it worse but can not cause it.
Child abuse only exists when a child is being harmed. As long as the gay couple who wishes to adopt treats their child with love and care and respect, that child is not being abused.
Yes and no. Child abuse can take many forms. But the result, or the impact it has on the child, is emotional and psychological. The forms child abuse can take are emotional child abuse, psychological child abuse (also referred to as mental child abuse), and physical child abuse.

Some of the books that are helpful in preventing child abuse are "Understanding Child Abuse & Neglect", "Child Abuse: Implications for Child Development and Psychopathology (Development Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry)", and "Child Abuse and Culture: Working with Diverse Families".
Learned. People are not born with narcissism, but they are egocentric as young children and I think narcissism develops from an overblown egocentric development. When every thing in the family is centered totally on the young child and all of that child's wants ( needs are different) are given without delay the egocentric development grows to a point that it becomes narcissism. This doesn't happen with all children, but it does happen.
1.5% of the country's children were confirmed victims of abuse in 1996. Parents were the abusers in 77% of the confirmed cases, other relatives in 11%.
