Can puberty make you sad

No they shouldn't they are probably sad that you are growing up really fast but that should be the only reason. It probably makes them worried about you having sex and not making good choices but they will get over it if you prove them wrong. I mean your mother has been through it and so she should not be sad about anything. It is a wonderful thing but yet a not fun thing. But welcome to women hood!

Sadness during puberty can be due to increase in hormones associated with puberty, changes in body shape and emerging sexual identity, family stressors such as divorce and peer pressure, all of which are common during puberty. Girls are approximately twice as vulnerable to depression from these factors as boys. The physical stresses of their montly cycle also predisposes girls to hormonal imbalances and depression of varying intensity.

With the heavy doses of hormones being released during puberty, it is fairly common for teens to become emotional - sometimes sad, sometimes angry, sometimes afraid, - so yeah - puberty can contribute to you being sad.
