Not really. They are made to move your jaw into place and minimise your overbite before you get train tracks.
RETAINERS
Nope he has white braces to match with his teeth
get them asap they will shift
Most people get retainers after braces to keep their teeth inline. However, some people wear retainers for straightening a particular tooth. For example I had to wear a retainer after getting a tooth taken out, to keep my teeth inline, allowing my second tooth to come through. After this I then got braces and then had to wear a retainer to keep them straight.
Keeps them in their desired place, prevents them from going back to how they were before braces.
Yes, some movement is completely normal. Your teeth are adjusting to their new positioning without the aid of the braces. The clear plastic retainers shouldn't be "temporary", they are for use during the day while you are moving your jaw and mouth a lot. The metal and plastic retainers are harder to wear but they're designed to keep your teeth where they are - not move them around. If you are worried however you should speak to your orthodontist, not the Internet.
I have braces now and I don't think a retainer would fix gaps because retainers are meant to keep teeth in place after having braces, they aren't meant to move teeth !! Sorry man
Once the teeth have been moved into their new position, the braces are removed and a retainer is worn until the teeth stabilize in that position. Retainers do not move teeth, they only hold them in place.
Lol, no. Retainers are not for nerds. They help keep your teeth strait AFTER you get your braces off so you don't have to get them put on again. No one wants to spend all of that money to get braces on a second time so if you have a retainer, I suggest wearing it. ^_^
Yes, teeth move all the time. This is why people get retainers after they get braces off.
It is possible. You could go to a dentist or orthodontist and have them make one for you from a mold they take. They wouldn't refuse your money. However, retainers are technically for keeping what the braces did. Also sometimes retainers are given to people who grind their teeth as they sleep. Yes its possible. i have never had braces in my life, yet today i was given a retainer to wear for at least 6 weeks before they fix a permanent brace to my teeth .
Usually you pay a moderate fee when you begin orthodontic treatment (braces). After the brackets are bonded to your teeth, approximately each month you return for adjustments and pay a small fee for each visit. When you are finished with orthodontic treatment, you pay a final fee to have the braces removed and for retainers (retainers hold your teeth in position so they don't shift).
