There is little research to prove or disprove that Smoking cannabis during pregnancy will harm an unborn baby but there is also nothing to suggest it is safe. Official advise is always to avoid drugs of any sort while pregnant to eliminate risk to the health of the baby.
Cannabis has been proven to cause mental problems in adult and teenage humans, which is an indication that it would be a bad idea to use it during pregnancy.
Most people would see the use of drugs by a pregnant woman as severely irresponsible.
There is also the issue of smoking nicotine while pregnant here which has been conclusively proven to cause harm to unborn babies, if smoking is the method of ingestion as suggested then harm could definitely be caused; cannabis users often inhale a mix of tobacco and cannabis to better facilitate burning of the drug.

∙ 13y agoWe know that if a pregnant woman smokes tobacco there is a harmful effect on the development of the baby, since nicotine constricts blood vessels and blood flow is reduced, and carbon monoxide in the smoke also reduces the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. With marijuana, the canabinoids are not as dangerous as nicotine would be, however, you still have carbon monoxide in the smoke. I would advise against it.

∙ 12y agoWhile there are no conclusive studies done on the subject, it is conjectured that marijuana used during pregnancy may cause chemical addiction, low birth weight, neurological damage, and/or birth defects in fetuses and infants.
Most sates in the USA require drug tests of new born infants shortly after birth and some require drug tests of pregnant mothers.
