Yes, a spinal cord stimulator can be removed if necessary. This procedure is typically performed if the device is not providing the desired pain relief, causing complications, or if the patient experiences side effects. The removal is done through a surgical procedure, similar to the implantation process. It’s important to discuss any concerns or issues with a healthcare provider to determine the best course of action.

What's new in spinal research? Dr Ames, neurosurgeon from the University of California, developed a revolutionary technique for spinal tumour procedure. In a short video Dr Ames explains what the procedure entails: the removal of the tumour, and rebuilding of the relevant part of the spine. According to a survivor of a spinal tumour, her only perceivable implement, after the procedure, is a stiff neck. According to Dr Ty, from the Chapman Medical Center, and Dr Levy, from Emory University, pain management can be greatly improved by a programmable spinal cord stimulator. The stimulator is designed to interfere with the pain signal path from the spinal cord to the brain, thus preventing the pain signal from reaching the brain. Marcy Newsome, from Brain and Spinal Cord Organisation, provides detailed information of the expected symptoms and consequences relevant to specific areas of the spinal column. Those information helps understanding and working out the best options the patients have. If you can have it removed! I myself had a benign spinal cord tumor removed 9 months ago and still am recovering from it. The spinal cord tumor may likely just keep growing in size and cause more compressison on the spinal cord. This compression can lead to many bad symptoms and ultimately paralysis (in my case it would of at least).
