It depends what kind of cotton you are using. If you are using a cotton pad, then it should not cause an infection. However, if you are using dyed cotton or any kind of cotton balls, it could be a cause of infection. Yeast infections can occur for many reasons, and the time before and during the period, many women are especially prone to developing them. It may be a good idea to buy napkins and towels for the vaginal area from a drug store from a brand that specializes in those products.

To use a sanitary towel, first, remove it from its packaging and peel off the adhesive backing. Then, place the towel sticky side down in the center of your underwear, ensuring it adheres securely. Adjust it for comfort as needed, and change the towel every few hours or as needed based on your flow. Dispose of used towels in a trash bin, not in the toilet.

A proper Sanitary maintenance area is where your tools and implements that touch the client will be placed. It maintains the sanitation by being kept clean and free of hair and anything that has not been disinfected.. It should be kept well organized at all times, this shows that you care about your clients health and safety and are aware of the spread of germs and infection at every second you are servicing that client. It can be a clean cotton towel with a clean paper towel laying on top, or a sanitized metal tray ( like your doctors or dentist) . It should be where ever you are servicing your client, and within your reach! Each client needs a new SMA ( paper towel laying on cotton towel ) the base towel should be changed only if soiled, and tray should be cleaned with alcohol with 70% or higher, cleaning in circular motion from center out. :) as a Cosmetologist I take as much pride in my sanitation as I do my skills and appearance! SMA prevents the spread of germs and infections in the Salon. They should be taken as seriously as the sanitation of your implements ! -Desiree Davidson Huntington Beach, ca.
Looped sanitary towels come with a thin belt. All you have to do it loop the sanitary towel around the front and back of the belt. This allows the girls that do not like to wear underwear to continue doing so even on their period.
