If the mother has become what doctors call "Rh sensitized" then the antigens in her blood will cross through the placenta and "attack" the antigens in her baby's blood. Fortunately, Rh factors is something doctors have understood for a very long time and something any OB-GYN will check on. Today, because we have a specific drug to prevent sensitization, this rarely ever happens. This is a very complicated issue so be sure to talk to a OB-GYN for the best advice.
