Can you get the mumps if your tonsils were removed?

Well I had my tonsils burnt out in hospital and the doctor said I can't get tonsilitus again because I don't have tonsils! (If you're going to get your tonsils taken out any time in the future, get them out now because adult tonsilitus is one of the worst pains you can have. You'll cry 24/7 wishing it didn't hurt and every hour you take tons of medicine. The worst bit is you don't get to have as much ice cream as you want like the old days. :'( Now you have to have rough, hard things e.g. crisps. Also I didn't mean to get carried away or scare you.)

No not really only depends on when you got it and what doctor has machine to get it out for u so it really depends.

Yes you can get mumps if you have no tonsils because mumps is an inflammation of the lymph glands in one's neck.

If your tonsills are going bad then yes you can get it! But, now-a-days they don't take your tonsills out that much anymore.

This is so not true my tonsils just got taken out and there were 20 people waiting to have theres taken out. It is very common to have tonsils taken out and it doesn't hurt at all.

I just got my tonsils out, and ya it hurt!! it hurts like heck! but that's only when you wake up. You don't feel it while they're taking them out cuz they put u to sleep.

yes you can because when they remove your tonsils there are still small stumps left there. that can get infected although i don't think its as common & i don't think you get it as bad. I'm 15 and have had my tonsils removed when i was 3.. I got an ear infection last week which has now lead on to tonsillitis.

Yes. I currently am dealing with mono and had my tonsils removed when I was 4. I am now 28 and my tonsils never grew back.
