Can you take a pregnancy test when you are on your period?

Its usually not a good idea you should wait until after your period to take a test and if it is a normal periods you probably are not pregnant. Some women have periods while they are pregnant but it is usually light bleeding or don't last as long as usual, etc. It is a bit of a waste of money as having a period gives you a pretty good idea that you are not pregnant.

There should be no reason for you to take a test if you have your period only if you are worried terribly or you have an irregular period such as spotting . but usually your fine once your period comes

Yes, but be sure not to let any blood get on the test strip. If you know for sure that you are pregnant, it is probably not going to be your period, although some women have experienced a "first" period then learns a couple of weeks later that they really are pregnant. It is possible that it could be implantation bleeding caused by the fertilized egg to attach itself to the uterine wall. Or it could be a cervical change that can cause vaginal bleeding. Vaginal bleeding can also be a symptom of ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. Whoever told you "no" is wrong. Pregnancy test detect the HCG in your urine or blood ( if you go to the doctors to have a blood test performed ) and it will only detect that hormone. Nothing else will affect it. That's what they're made for detecting. It does not matter if one is on their period or not. As a matter of fact, you could be on your period, and take a pregnancy test ( wait until a week after you have missed your period to take one ) and it will still be accurate.

Pregnancy measures hormones, so if you're bleeding I don't think that would affect the test, go ahead and do one. But if you're sure it's your period... I'd say you don't need a pregnancy test :P
