It is perfectly natural for a woman to pass small blood clots under the size of a quarter. It is also normal for your menstruation to be mixed with mucus at times, a snotty like discharge. Your body produces a discharge which helps to keep you moist and also acts a lot like mucus in our noses to 'clean' us out. This same discharge happens when you have your period and mixes with your blood. That's just part of your natural cycle. I can be gross and unsettling, but it's doing it's job.

Yes, your menstrual flow can be slimy.

Your menstrual flow isn't just blood but also uterine tissue and cervical mucus, plus discharge.
