The heart is about the size on a person's fist. It is made up of specialised cardiac muscle and is known as 'double pump' because each side of the heart works separately, the right side of the heart pumps blood from your heart to your lungs through the pulmonary artery. The left side of your heart pumps blood to other parts of your body through the aorta. The heart has four chambers a right atrium and ventricle and a left atrium and ventricle it also has special valves that make sure the blood is always pumped in the right direction. The muscle of the heart is specialised because it needs to be strong enough to beat everyday for a life time .The heart also has its own pacemaker, which sends electrical impulses to make sure the heart maintains a regular heart beat. The heart is made up of cardiac muscles.it has 4 chambers which separated by a partition called septum. The upper 2 chamber called atria and lower 2 are called ventricles. The left atrium is connected to left ventricles through a valve. The roght atrium is connected to the right ventricle through another valve. These valves prevent the backflow of of blood into atria when the ventricles contract to pump out the blood of the heart to the rest of the body. Ventricles have to pump blood into various organs with high pressure , so they have thicker walls than atria. The atries , veins and capillaries are a kind of thin pipes through which blood flows in the body . Through pulmonary veins oxygen reaches blood comes to left atrium from the lungs and then transferred in the left ventricle. Left ventricle contract and blood is pumped out to the whole body . Deoxygenated blood comes to right atrium from the whole body then it comes in the right ventricles and sent to the lungs by pulmonary artery.
