A you get into the later stages of pregnancy your body will start to make milk, and then when the baby is born the milk will be fully produced, and will keep producing until the baby doesn't need it any more and is old enough to use a bottle.

There are, what is called "wet nurses" these are women who are not pregnant and are lactating to assist in feeding babies who cant handle formula in the hospital. They have or many not have had children of there own. Women can lactate and produce milk without becoming pregnant or having had been pregnant. It's called the let down reflex and it is just that a reflex and once triggered they can start to produce milk for as long as it is needed and taken. Pregnancy is not required.
