Only for about the first week, they usually hurt a lot, it is hard to chew or hit your teeth together when you talk, and they may cut the insides of your mouth.. After exactly a week though it is better. The pain usually depends on how bad the teeth are and the person. :)

when you first get you braces on its not really painful just kinda annoying and you feel a bit of pressure. the braces will give you some cuts on your cheeks though

The braces itself aren't sore, except the first day you get them. Braces aren't "sore" but if you play sports and get by n the mouth it doesn't feel good, if you get hit hard enough, it could make your lip bleed. Tighting doesn't hurt that much, it just feels like pressure on your teeth. So to conclude, I would say braces aren't so bad as everyone explains that they are..... they don't exactly feel wonderful either, you may bleed and yes braces may hurt off and on. Can you just ask for braces?
Of course not. If your dentist feels you need braces you will be admitted to an orthodontist, to help sort the problem. However if you do feel that there is a problem, and your dentist hasn't noticed, it would be a good idea to notify your dentist about the situation.

yellow braces are not good because they make it look like you have plaque on your teeth. you get plaque by not brushing your teeth which is gross! the only time yellow braces are good is when you get the rainbow ones (yellow is in it just a little)
