You may be thinking more of a colonoscopy, which is where a small camera mounted on a flexible tube is inserted. To my knowledge, most prostate exams simply involve the insertion of a gloved finger to check how things feel up there. But seeing as I'm a female and therefore will never undergo this, I may be wrong.
