Yes, sociopaths can live a long life just like people with other mental illnesses. They will live longer with the help of therapy and medications to relieve some of their symptoms and behaviors.

There is nothing about antisocial personality disorder that would specifically increase or decrease the person's life span beyond normal. The associated behaviors could operate to decrease or increase it, depending on how they are expressed.

For instance, a person who likes to start fights in bars would probably be reducing his or her lifespan, while a person who ruthlessly climbs a corporate ladder may actually increase lifespan be gaining access to the best medical care.

Sociopaths actually live shorter lives, on average, due to risk taking behaviors (such as fast driving and getting in fights) and drug/alcohol addictions. However, that does not mean that all sociopaths die early.

3 months ago my sociopath told me to lose his number after I told him that he only calls when he needs something. To this day he makes contact at least once a week. I also either blow him off or ignore him but it doesn't stop. I think he thinks he can get something else out of me because I am a kind hearted person and he just hasn't found his next victim yet.

When I have taken time out to speak with him he continues with his sarcasm, demeaning behavior and telling me he never did anything wrong. AND he believes this.

Honey, they don't go away until they find their next victim that's why you have to cut all contact off.

I think I answer his calls sometimes because it's entertaining to me. He is clueless that I have already diagnosed his behavior.
