When giving a tetanus shot, nurses warn the patient to take a couple of Tylenol and take it easy for the rest of day. The shot can cause mild flu-like symptoms in some, as well as tenderness at the injection site. The shots I have taken have been typical, leaving my arm sore and achy for a couple of days. I also had a knot at the injection site for a few weeks, but that eventually went away.

What are the indications for anti tetanus vaccine?

The CDC has issued standard recommendations for the anti tetanus vaccine. keep in mind there is a difference between the vaccine (TD) and the immunoglobulin (TIG). If the individual has had 3 or more vaccinations in the past, then you would give the vaccination only if they had not received their last vaccination within the past 10 years (for non tetanus prone wounds) or 5 years (for tetanus prone wounds. he immunoglobulin (TIG) is given only to individuals with tetanus prone wounds who have had less than 3 previous vaccinations (or unknown status). Hope this helps. Shaun Cole

Can triple antibiotic protect against tetanus?

Triple antibiotic ointment, which typically contains neomycin, bacitracin, and polymyxin B, is designed to prevent bacterial infections in minor cuts and scrapes. However, it does not protect against tetanus, which is caused by the toxin of the Clostridium tetani bacteria. Tetanus prevention relies on vaccination (the tetanus shot) and proper wound care. If you have concerns about tetanus, it's important to ensure your vaccinations are up to date.
